A man was recently arrested on charges of burglary and theft in Mt. Pleasant, which included a stolen safe that was found in the Mississippi River. Following a several month investigation, the Mt. Pleasant Police Department arrested 30-year-old Adam Nolz of Ft. Madison on charges of second degree theft, third degree burglary, and possession of contraband in a correctional facility, all class D felonies. Nolz allegedly burgled Kempker’s True Value in Mt. Pleasant in December, stealing their safe among other items. Nolz was identified as the offender and was transported to the Henry County Jail. He was then moved to the Louisa County Jail due to a lack of space, where he is still in custody on $5,000 cash bond. The Ft. Madison Police Department aided the Mt. Pleasant police in the investigation.
