The Washington Demon bowling season came to an end in Muscatine. The Demon boys and girls squads competed in the Class 1A District 5 meet featuring bowlers from Centerville, Central DeWitt, Durant, Fairfield, Louisa-Muscatine, and Sigourney last week. The top scoring team and individual bowler from each district advanced to this week’s state tournament in Des Moines.

The boys’ meet saw Washington place third out of seven teams with a score of 2,759. Bailey Curtis rolled the best two-game score for the Demons at 398. Colin Zear scored a 385 in his final high school meet. The Demons posted 1,868 points in the individual round and added 891 in the baker rounds. Louisa-Muscatine’s Dustin Beaham was the district medalist with a score of 494. Fairfield won the district title with 3,096 points.

The Washington girls’ bowling team finished their season with a district score of 1,893. Dawsen Schluetter posted the Demons’ top score at 277. Washington recorded 1,224 points in the individual round and an additional 669 in the baker rounds. Louisa-Muscatine clinched a spot in the state tournament with a score of 2,903. Louisa-Muscatine’s Whittney Morse earned medalist honors with a score of 494.

The Demon bowling teams lose Zear, Kolton Segebart, and Kylan Gillette to graduation.
