Washington’s single-season pinfall record was broken on Wednesday in Des Moines. Senior Andrew Waite was one of three Demon wrestlers to record a fall in the Class 2A quarterfinal dual versus Atlantic (19-3). Washington won the dual, 35-31.

Waite brought Colton Mudd to his back 3:07 into their match. It was his 28th pinfall victory of the season, breaking Michael Ellingson’s record set last season. It was also the final victory of Waite’s varsity wrestling career. He finished the season with a 35-11 overall record.
