Nearly a fifth of Iowa is abnormally dry at this time. Southeast and south central Iowa are experiencing drought conditions. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 5.7% of Iowa is in moderate drought. That area spreads across 12 counties from corners of Keokuk and Jefferson counties, across to Wayne and Decatur counties. About 18% of Iowa is abnormally dry, those areas include Washington, Keokuk, Jefferson, Henry, Louisa and southern Johnson Counties.
