It took 72 games for 2014 Washington alum Walker Breard to achieve triple digit hits for his collegiate career. The junior first baseman for the Cornell College Rams (2-6) recorded his 100th hit in last Sunday’s 13-3 loss to the Webster University Gorlacks (8-3). The milestone came on a single in the sixth inning.
Breard’s freshman season featured 40 hits in 112 at bats. He ended the year with 10 home runs, 36 runs batted in, 13 doubles and two triples. He added 54 hits his sophomore season in 147 plate appearances, ending the year with 10 home runs, 51 runs batted in, nine doubles, and one triple. He currently has 12 hits in 29 at bats with one home run, seven runs batted in, and one double.
The Cornell College Rams won two of their six games in the RussMatt Invitational in Florida. The Rams resume their season in Moline, IL, Tuesday in a non-conference game against Augustana College (8-1).
