A Columbus Junction man was arrested recently for robbing the Casey’s General Store in Columbus Junction. The Louisa County dispatch center took the call just before 5 a.m. Saturday, where it was reported that 35-year-old Edgar Santos had taken several items from Casey’s under threat of violence. The report stated he made a verbal threat to the clerk at the counter, but no weapon was displayed. He then took lottery tickets and over-the-counter medications prior to leaving the store.

Witnesses were able to describe Santos, and he was identified and located a short time later by the Columbus Junction Police Department. After a struggle, he was arrested and taken to the Louisa County Jail, where he is still in custody. Santos is charged with second degree robbery, aggravated theft, assault, and interference with official acts. The Louisa County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Columbus Junction Police Department in the search.
