Postseason accolades were announced this week and Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball coach Dwight Gingerich was named Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division Coach of the Year.

After graduating Co-Conference Player of the Year Eli Gingerich from last year’s squad and losing last season’s leading rebounder Drake Brezina to a knee injury during football season, Iowa Mennonite faced adversity before they stepped on the floor. As the season got underway, IMS started the year 2-3 through their first five games before rattling off five straight wins to get above .500 going into the Christmas break.

In the second half of the season IMS stayed hot, winning 10 of their final 12 to close the regular season. Iowa Mennonite also won their first two contests in the postseason, making an appearance in the Class 1A district championship round of the playoffs. They ended the season with a 17-7 overall record.
