The Mid-Prairie boys and girls track teams are prepared for their first outdoor meet Friday night in Mount Pleasant.

The Golden Hawk teams were scheduled to compete on Thursday night but the event was pushed back a day due to weather. The Golden Hawk boys were last in action a little over a week ago on the campus of Cornell College at the River Valley Conference indoor championships. The 4×400 team of Peyton Miller, Cary Schaefer, Quinn Schmidt and Marshall Teets won the championship. Other top finishes included Terryhn Jacoby winning his flight of the 60m hurdles, Micah Gugel was second in his flight of the shot put, Miles Burrows was second in his flight of the 60m hurdles and Kyle Miller and Marshall Teets each took fourth in the high jump and long jump respectively.

The Mid-Prairie girls also have not been in action since the RVC indoor meet. Their highlights include Kylee Kos winning her flight of the shot put, and the 4×800 relay team of Abby Tornow, Greta Schmidt and Anna and Marie Hostetler finishing as runners up.

Joining Mid-Prairie at tonight’s meet in Mount Pleasant are Davenport Assumption, Burlington, Central Lee, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Davenport North, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Iowa City, City High, Mediapolis Ottumwa, Solon, Washington, West Burlington and the home standing Panthers.

Action begins at 4:30 this afternoon and continues into the evening at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex in Mount Pleasant.
