Parents, students, and teachers in the Highland School District who are curious to see what next year will look like don’t have to wait any longer, as the Highland School Board approved the 2017-2018 school calendar at their recent meeting. Superintendent Chris Armstrong says the calendar won’t look too different from this year, but he points out some key dates, “Last year we started taking the Monday after Thanksgiving off. That was a big hit all the way around, so we continued that again for this next year. We do not take a spring break, and the way Easter fell for next year, it was kind of right in the middle there. So they only decided to take an extended weekend. So add an additional day to Good Friday, so it’s a five-day weekend, and that’ll kind of serve as next year’s spring break.”

The first day of the school year will fall on August 23rd, and the last day is scheduled to be May 24th, though that could change depending on snow days or other cancellations.
