March in Washington has had a warmer than normal start. According to the National Weather Service, the first week of March has had an average temperature of 41.1 degrees, above the normal 32.3 degrees. Also, the average maximum temperature has been just over 13 degrees higher than normal at 54 degrees. Precipitation for the first week has been about two-tenths of an inch below normal.

So far for the year, the average temperature has been observed at nearly 32 degrees, about eight degrees above normal. Temperatures are expected to taper off this weekend, with a chance for a little snow on Saturday. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
