Late January into February is usually the peak of the flu season in Iowa, however influenza activity in Iowa remains widespread and moderate at this time. According to the Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network, for this reporting week the State Hygienic Laboratory confirmed 76 influenza A cases and there were 101 influenza-related hospitalizations. There have been 66 flu-associated deaths in the state since October, 16 more than last week’s report.
