The Kalona City Council will convene Monday, and one thing they’ll look at is a resolution for a grant request to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. The council is planning to submit a proposal for funds to purchase equipment for the English River Watershed project, which they hope will be awarded at the WCRF’s spring grant cycle. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says the watershed is wanting to upgrade its technology and display equipment for conferences and other events. Other topics on the agenda include consideration of crack and joint sealing on certain city streets, discussion of a new backhoe, and further discussion of the community center project. The meeting is open to the public, and will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Kalona City Hall.
