The Kalona City Council will convene Monday night, and they encourage community members to attend the public hearing regarding the 2017/2018 city budget. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says there’s not a lot that changed between this year and last year regarding the budget, apart from some debt services due to the community center project. After the public hearing, the city is expected to pass a resolution to approve the budget. Other items on the agenda include further discussion of the community center project, approval of beer and cigarette licenses, and discussion on the Historical Village’s share of Washington County Riverboat Foundation funds. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Monday in the Kalona Community Center.
