At the most recent Keota School Board meeting, board member Scott Flynn announced his resignation. Superintendent Dennis Phelps said Flynn, who is also Keota’s City Attorney, is resigning due to personal reasons. Phelps was complimentary of Flynn, “Really want to thank Scott. You know, I haven’t been on that long, and obviously haven’t got to know him as well as I’d like. But I know he’s been a solid board member, and he’s been a person I’ve enjoyed working with. So I think he’ll be missed on the board.”

The school board will now look into appointing someone to take the vacant seat, which could prove tricky. Phelps said it’s his understanding they have 30 days after the resignation to name a replacement. However, the Keota School Board only convenes once a month, so he says it’s likely the appointment will have to be done at a special meeting. Anyone interested in filling the position is encouraged to reach out to the school. Flynn’s successor will serve the rest of his term and be up for re-election in September.
