The Minnesota State Mavericks softball team cracked the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association Poll for the first time this week, checking in at No. 23. Minnesota State has an overall record of 22-4 on the season.

In their most recent action the Mavericks traveled to St. Joseph, Missouri for the Missouri Western Tournament. Minnesota State won four of five games at the event, beating Northeastern State 8-1, Washburn 7-3, Nebraska-Kearney 8-3, Northwest Missouri State 3-0 and No. 18 Missouri Western State 8-1. Their lone loss came to Pittsburg State 1-0.

On the trip Mid-Prairie graduate Amber Kral hit .352 with six total hits and five runs scored. On the season she is hitting .359 with 28 total hits, 23 runs scored, and leads the team with 24 RBI and eight home runs. Her eight homers are best in the entire Northern Sun Conference, her 24 RBI are second best. Kral has previously won the Northern Sun Conference Player of the Week Award. Minnesota State will next be in action Tuesday at home in Mankato against Concordia-St. Paul.
