Postseason accolades continue to accumulate for a pair of brothers on the Highland Huskies boys basketball team (19-5). The Iowa Basketball Coaches Association released the 2017 Boys Sub-State teams and Trent Lasek and Zach Lasek represent the Huskies on the Class 2A Substate 5 squad. Both were named to the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North all-conference first team earlier this month.

Trent Lasek, a three-time first team All-Southeast Iowa Super Conference North performer, closed his high school hoops career sixth in the conference with 321 points scored. He topped the Huskies with 136 assists, the second most in the league. He also recorded 95 rebounds and 62 steals.

Zach Lasek’s first varsity basketball season featured a team-best 368 points scored, the fourth highest total in the SEISC North. He topped the Huskies and ranked third in the conference with 170 rebounds and 40 blocks.

Highland ended their season with a 19-5 overall record, a three-win improvement from last year. They were the Class 2A District 9 champions, falling in the Substate 5 championship game to the Pella Christian Eagles.
