March in Washington has been warmer and drier than normal. According to the National Weather Service, the average temperature this month has been 38.4 degrees, above the normal 36.9 degrees. The record high average temperature for March was set five years ago at 51.6 degrees. Precipitation has been below normal a 1.48 inches, while 2.1 inches is normal. Also, snowfall is three-tenths of an inch below the normal 2.1 inches. So far this year, precipitation is 1.5 inches below the normal 4.67 inches and temperatures are about six degrees above the normal 27.5 degree average.
