The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys golf team is back on the course tonight to open the 2017 season when they host Iowa City Regina at the Kalona Golf Course.

The Golden Hawk boys are looking to build on the experience gained during 2016. A year ago, the Hawks had a team scoring average of 198. The program has seen steady growth in numbers and experience. Four years ago, Mid-Prairie had just a handful of players on the roster, in 2016, head coach Kelby Bender had 16 players on the squad.

That growth continues into this season with 17 players on the 2017 squad. Returning for the Golden Hawks this year is lone senior Duncan McCain. Also returning for the Hawks are last season’s leading scorer junior Michael Callahan with a 47 average, junior Ryan Slaubaugh, junior Collin Gingerich, and Seth Mann.

Action begins this afternoon at 4PM at the Kalona Golf Course.
