The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys track team traveled to Ames Tuesday night to open the season at the Iowa State Boys High School Classic Indoor meet.

Top finishes for the Golden Hawks on the track came from the Mid-Prairie 4×800 relay team of Peyton Miller, Andrew Schwartz, Marshall Teets and Zach Pettit in eighth place with a time of 8:36.78. The Hawks also got a pair of eighth place finishes in the field events from Marshall Teets and Kyle Miller in the high jump, clearing 5’10”. Other finishes for Mid-Prairie included Miles Burrows taking 88th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.71. In the 60m dash Ricky Vargas was 25th in 7.46 while Hunter Eden was 142nd in 8.75. In the 3200m Floyd Evans finished 24th in 10:20.89 while Spencer Yutzy was 95th in 12:21.98. In the 400m Elmir Ganibegovic was 103rd with a time of 59.56 while Brad Tornow was 106th in 1:00.05. In the 1600m Zach Pettit was 31st in 4:57.56 with Austin Bontrager finishing 117th in 6:21.94. In the long jump Marshall Teets was 30th with a leap of 18’1/2″ while Miles Burrows was 86th clearing 14′ 1/4″. The 4×400 team finished 21st with a time of 3:43.77.
