Organizations around Washington County are preparing proposals for the Washington County Riverboat Foundation’s spring grant cycle, and Mid-Prairie has zeroed in on two projects they’d like help with. Superintendent Mark Schneider says the grants the school is pursuing are for equipment for the high school and middle school math departments, and instruments for the band program. The school board approved the proposals at their recent meeting, and will submit them to the WCRF for consideration for their spring grant cycle.
Schneider explains how they choose the projects for submission, “Our process at Mid-Prairie is that we put the word out that there are grants available from the foundation. And parent groups, or booster groups, or staff members can write grants, and are submitted to the administrative team. Then we take a look at it, and we choose several to submit.” Schneider expresses gratitude for the WCRF and the many grants they’ve provided the school over the years. He believes the foundation has been crucial in improving the quality of education at Mid-Prairie and the other schools they’ve supported.
