The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team wrapped up another successful season this winter. The Golden Hawks finished with an overall dual record of 11-12.

Mid-Prairie was 7-4 in the River Valley Conference, taking fourth place. Mid-Prairie placed seventh at the River Valley Conference tournament at Northeast Goose Lake. The Golden Hawks crowned two conference champions at the meet, Duncan McCain at 132lbs and Visouth Peterschmidt at 182lbs.

The Golden Hawks ran into a tough sectional meet and McCain and Peterschmidt were able to advance to districts as sectional champions. In the district round, Peterschmidt advanced to state for the first time in his career by taking the district title at 182lbs. Once at state, Peterschmidt finished fourth.

Mid-Prairie graduates an accomplished senior class including McCain who set the all-time school wins record with 163 victories. He also owns the single season take down record with 161 and the career take downs record with 385. He finishes his career as a two time state qualifier, with his best finish coming in 2015 in sixth place.

Senior Visouth Peterschmidt set the single season record for three point near falls, posting 46 during his senior season. He also owns the career record with 92. He finished fifth on the all-time school wins list with 138. He qualified for state as a senior, finishing in fourth place.

Senior Levi Duwa, who missed his final season due to injury finished his career, finished ninth on the all-time wins list with 104 career victories. Duwa, a two time state qualifier, finished as state runner-up in 2016.

Mid-Prairie also loses Ethan Danner, Brent Foster and Ricky Vargas to graduation.
