Local Donations Continue to Come in for Kansas Farmers

Two local women have been organizing, collecting, and transporting fencing, feed, milk replacement and more to farmers in Kansas who are recovering from devastating wildfires.

Kalona Solar Array No Longer Iowa’s Largest

In October, the Farmer’s Electric Cooperative near Kalona added 2,880 new solar panels to their existing solar array, which made it the largest solar installation in Iowa.

Description: Washington County Extension and Outreach will be hosting a Beginning Young Farmers meeting on March 29th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Washington County Extension Office.This meeting will evaluate options available for purchasing farmland as a beginning farmer. A light meal will be provided at 5:30 pm. The meeting and is open to all beginning farmers from Southeast Iowa. There is no charge for the event, but please RSVP to the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811 by noon on March 29th.
