This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week and severe storm warnings, tornado warnings, and more alerts can all go directly to your phone in Washington County. Cara Sorrells, E911 director for Washington County, explains there is a text message service that residents can sign up for. The Washington County Notification System sends a text message to cell phones for those who register. Sorrells explains you can sign up online (click here) or by calling the communications office at 319-653-2107. You can also register to get an email notification. Notifications include storm warnings, boil orders, and other emergencies.
