The Washington County Conservation Board was given some good news recently, as they will be able to do more than they originally planned on the Kiwi Avenue crossing project on the Kewash Nature Trail. Conservation Director Steve Anderson said they are expanding the project with the blessing of the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, who awarded a $27,846 grant towards the project. Anderson explains, “At the last meeting, we received a quote that was for well below the full granted amount. And we went to the Washington County Riverboat (Foundation), and they were gracious enough to allow us to expand our project to go ahead and utilize all the funds. So we’re going to be able to lengthen that crossing fairly substantially.” Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks on the crossing, which is universally considered the worst spot on the Kewash Nature Trail.
