Entering the first outdoor track meet of the season, Washington freshman Hannah Anderson has recorded the Southeast Conference’s top result in the girls’ long jump. Anderson, KCII’s Hedge Above Lawncare Athlete of the Week on March 15, posted the mark during the Demon Indoor Meet on March 9. Her leap of 16′ 3.5″ topped the field by 2.25 inches, and is 7.75 inches better than Keokuk’s Ya’Mia Ailes-Primes for the conference lead. Anderson’s result is Class 3A’s fifth farthest jump measured so far this season.

Anderson and the Demon girls’ track team are headed to Des Moines County today for the Falcon Relays. Washington will compete against athletes from Central Lee, Danville, Fairfield, Keokuk, Mediapolis, Mount Pleasant, New London, Pekin, WACO, West Burlington-Notre Dame, and Winfield-Mount Union. First events will commence at 4:30 p.m. at West Burlington High School.
