The Demons’ Hannah Anderson and the 4×100 relay team will compete at the 108th running of the Drake Relays in Des Moines this week.

Anderson is leading the Southeast Conference in five events this year and three of those finishes were good enough to qualify for a trip to the Blue Oval. Anderson’s busy weekend gets started on Thursday where her leaping abilities will be on display. Her best long jump of 17’5 ¼‘’ landed her at the relays and is the second best jump in class 3A. On Friday, the freshman will head to the blocks to compete in the 100m dash. Her best time of 12.57 seconds leads the conference and is fourth in the state for class 3A. Among the eight members in her heat, Anderson has the second fastest time and is one of three freshmen competing in the event.

On Friday night the Demons will race with Anderson anchoring the 4×100 team. The team of Makenzi Marek, Demeri Bell, Victoria Barber, and Anderson posted the best time in the Southeast Conference with a tally of 51.52 seconds. This marks the second straight year the Demons have sent the 4×100 team to the Drake Relays where last year their time of 52.16 seconds was good enough for 56th out of 72 teams.

Anderson will compete in the long jump today starting at 5 p.m. and the 100m on Friday at 8:30 a.m. The 4×100 will take to the track on Friday at 5:10 p.m.
