More than one in three Iowa adults have prediabetes, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health. Prediabetes is described by IDPH as a condition in which blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels are high, but not high enough to be classified as type 2 diabetes. If you have prediabetes, you’re at a high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. And people with type 2 diabetes are at a higher risk of stroke, heart disease and other complications. IDPH has launched a one-minute risk test online to help determine your risk. To take the quick test click here.
