Washington’s Hannah Anderson and Sigourney’s Summer Barthelman competed in the long jump competition Thursday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines.

Anderson made her first trip to the blue oval one to remember, finishing as runner up in the contest and setting a new Washington school record with a leap of 18’1.25”. Darby Thomas of Council Bluffs Lincoln won the event, clearing 18’4”. Barthelman took 14th with her leap of 16’7.25”. Both athletes will compete again in Des Moines with Anderson scheduled to run the 100 on Friday and Barthelman to run the 400 hurdles Saturday.
