The Washington, Mid-Prairie, Columbus Community, Winfield-Mt. Union, and Lone Tree boys’ track teams competed in the Indian Relays at Wapello Tuesday night.

Mid-Prairie had the best team score out of the area schools finishing fourth in the 12-team meet with a total of 73 points. Headlining the Golden Hawks was Levi Duwa who placed first in the shot put with a throw of 51’6’’. Duwa also grabbed a second place finish in the discuss with a throw of 134’4’’. Other second place finishes for the Golden Hawks included the 4×100 team, consisting of Cary Scheafer, Terrhyn Jacoby, Quinn Schmidt, and Peyton Miller and the 4×800 team of Andrew Schwartz, Brent Foster, Brad Tornow, and Jacob Nonnenmann.

Washington finished the night fifth overall with 55 total points. The Demons were led by Caleb Bex who took first place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.11 seconds. Cade Pouren grabbed a second place finish in the long jump with a leap of 17’09’’. The shuttle hurdle relay team also placed second on the night, this team consisting of Bex, Mario Tapia, Cade Hennigan, and Ben Schiefer. Third place finishes for the Demons include the 4x800m team, consisting of Collin Bremer, Kiowa Kieth, and Brennan Horak, and Evan Horak. Rounding out the top three finishes for Washington was the 800-sprint medley team. This group consists of Mario Tapia, Sawyer Whisler, Kyle Schindler, and Ethan Hunt.

Other notable finishes on the night include Lone Tree’s Niko Gosnell placing second in the high jump with a leap of 6’4’’ and teammate Casey Shalla grabbing third place in the shot put. Winfield-Mt. Union’s Brock Fricke was third in the 3200m run and Columbus Community’s Cody Fox was sixth in the discus.

The Golden Hawks will next be in action tonight at home. Washington, Winfield-Mt. Union, and Lone Tree travel to Mt. Pleasant, and Columbus Community will travel to Mid-Prairie on Tuesday.
