The asbestos abatement in two Washington Middle School rooms has been completed. The sealed containers were removed before school Thursday morning. An independent tester evaluated the Family and Consumer Science Room and Room 206, and the tests came back as “free from all asbestos and mastic.” Ongoing work areas are contained and air quality is being monitored with negative air pressure in each room. The work began after a faucet was left on over Easter break, causing water damage in four rooms. The next step is to determine if any of the plaster ceilings need to be removed and then new flooring will be installed.
