A donated calf helped raise $19,300 Thursday for relief for Kansas wildfire victims. Carol Horning states the rollover calf sale was held at the Kalona Sale Barn and over $19,300 was raised with the calf being sold 66 times. The black Angus steer weighed 550 pounds and was donated by Tyler Vavricek of Center Point and Jason Kane of Deep River. Wildfires burned ranches across Kansas last month, killing cattle, destroying fences, and scorching the land. Horning and Megan Coakley have been organizing local volunteer efforts and donations of feed and fencing supplies since mid-March for farmers and ranchers in Kansas.
