A Washington graduate has been a bright spot during the Cornell College Rams baseball team’s (2-9) current six-game losing streak. TJ Rausch, a 2012 Demon alum, has recorded at least one hit in each of the last six games he’s played in.

The streak began March 13 when Rausch collected two singles in three at-bats in the Rams’ 6-1 game one victory over the Central College Dutch (5-11) in Florida. He didn’t play in game two against the Dutch, a 4-2 setback. Rausch concluded the RussMatt Invitational by going a combined 2-for-10 at the plate in losses to Bradley University (5-4 F/12) on March 15 and Rochester Institute (12-6) March 16.

Since returning to the Midwest, Rausch has collected five hits in 10 at bats as the Rams have dropped three games to ranked opponents. Cornell lost a single game versus No. 16 Augustana College (3-1) in Illinois on March 22, and a pair of contests against No. 11 UW-LaCrosse (3-1; 10-2) last Saturday and Sunday in Mount Vernon. Rausch has recorded 13 hits in 39 at-bats so far this spring, including one double.

The Cornell College Rams open Midwest Conference action this afternoon in Galesburg, IL. against the Knox College Prairie Fire (4-4). First pitch of game one is set for noon and game two is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at Blodgett Field. The teams will travel to Mount Vernon for a doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Ash Park.
