The Washington Demon girls soccer team dropped their season opener Monday night at home, falling to the West Liberty Comets 11-1 at the Washington Soccer Complex.

The Comets got their offense going early, scoring their first goal in the game’s fourth minute. West Liberty led 5-0 at the half. Washington’s tally came from Jessie Buchholz. The Comets won the game by the 10 goal mercy rule. With the loss Washington is now 0-1 on the year and will next be in action tonight when they travel to Mid-Prairie. Action is set to start at 5 p.m. in Wellman.
