There is action on the blue oval all day Friday for KCII area athletes.

Things kick off at 8 a.m. when Autum Barthelman of the Sigourney Savages runs the 100m hurdles. She qualified 18th in the field with a time of 15.49 seconds. Top qualifier in the field is Valerie Welch of Iowa City west in 14.34 seconds. Washington’s Hannah Anderson will be back on the blue oval today after her school record setting performance in the long jump Thursday. Anderson will run the 100. She has the 14th best qualifying time at 12.57 seconds. Leading the field coming into competition is Kerris Roberts of Waterloo East at 12.04 seconds. Autum Barthelman will also run the 100 this morning. Her time of 12.77 seconds is 37th in the state. WACO’s Cornell Hulme and Sigourney’s Avery Moore will step onto the blue oval this morning to run the 100m dash in Des Moines. Hulme’s qualifying time of 10.99 seconds is 17th in the field, Moore’s best on the year is 11.04, 27th in the group. Top qualifier is Ryan VanBaale of Ankeny Centennial with a time of 10.56 seconds. Fresh off of her Drake championship Thursday night in the 3000, Mid-Prairie’s Anna Hostetler is back in action this afternoon in the 800. She has the seventh best qualifying time in the field at 2:17.58. Top qualifier is Joy Ripslinger of Davenport Assumption at 2:09.84. Action for area athletes wraps up this evening when the Washington Demon 4×100 team competes. The team of Makenzi Marek, Leah Marek and Hannah Anderson qualified with a time of 51.52 seconds. Top qualifier is Waterloo East with their time of 48.42 seconds.
