The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track teams hosted their annual Co-ed Hawk Relays Tuesday night at Dwight G. Sattler Field in Wellman.

The Mid-Prairie girls took the team championship with 160 points. Sigourney was second with 124 points. The Golden Hawk girls won 10 events on the night including Abbigail Evans in the 200 with a time of 27.21 seconds and the 400 in 1:02.83. Anna Hostetler took the 800 in 2:17.34. Marie Hostetler won the 1500 in 4:50.20. Moriah Brase took the title in the 3000 in 12:30.66. Kylee Kos won the shot put with a throw of 31’11 1/4”. In relay events, the 4×100 team of Kessa Jones, Abby Tornow, Greta Schmidt and Abbigail Evans were winners. The 4×400 team of Kitty Conway, Shelby Zahradnek, Kate Cavanagh and Kaitlyn Poock were champions. The Mid-Prairie 4×800 team of Tornow, Schmidt, and Anna and Marie Hostetler were also event champions. The Mid-Prairie distance medley team of Jones, Poock, Schmidt and Cavanagh also brought home the title.

Iowa Mennonite placed sixth in the six team field with their score of 50 points. IMS had one event champion on the night with Emma Beachy setting a new personal record with a discus throw of 99’6”. Other top finishes for IMS included Calli Shaw as runner up in the 3000m, Sarena Gerber was third in the 400 and Rubye Ney third in the 400 hurdles.

On the boys side, Mid-Prairie had the top area team finish taking second place with 104.50 points. Mount Pleasant won the team title with 149.50 points. The Golden Hawk had five event champions on the night. Mashall Teets took the 800 in 2:04.81. Peyton Miller won the 400 hurdles in 55.87 seconds. The 4×400 team of Cary Schaefer, Peyton Miller, and Marshall Teets won the event in 3:34.97. Levi Duwa won the shot put with a throw of 58′ 3/4” and the discus with a throw of 148′ 5 1/2”. Other top finishes for the Golden Hawks included Kyle Miller second in the high jump at 6′, Floyd Evans runner-up and Zach Pettit third in the mile, the 4×800 team of Zach Pettit, Peyton Miller, Andrew Schwartz and Floyd Evans second, Terrhyn Jacoby third in the 100 and Cary Schaefer third in the 400.

The Washington boys finished seventh in the 14 team field with a score of 27 points. Top finishes for the Demons included Caleb Bex as runner-up in the 110 hurdles. A runner-up finish for the shuttle hurdle relay team of Caleb Bex, Mario Tapia, Cade Hennigan and Jake Reighard. The Demon sprint medley team of Mario Tapia, Sawyer Whisler, Tanner Murphy and Ethan Hunt finished fourth. The 4×200 team of Kyle Dallmeyer, Tanner Murphy, David Mares and Mario Tapia were fifth. Also fifth were Cade Pouren in the long jump and Mark Engleken in the discus.

The Washington boys track team now moves into an extended break in their season, the Mid-Prairie girls will host their relays in Wellman Thursday while the Mid-Prairie boys will next be at Dubuque Senior Thursday. IMS will next be on the track April 27th at WACO.
