The Mid-Prairie boys soccer team is set to kick off the season on the road tonight when they travel to Highland.

In 2016, Mid-Prairie finished with a 5-9 overall record, falling in the first round of the playoffs to Iowa Mennonite. The Golden Hawks welcome back key pieces of their team including leading scorer Ricky Vargas who finished last season with seven goals and this year’s captain Ryan Harapat. Other key returners for the Hawks include David Bayliss, Jason Tew, Caden Brown, Jose Juarez, Camden Marner, Byron Yoder, Jacob Tappan and Will Swails. The Golden Hawks have also accepted Sigourney into their co-op adding quality depth and skill at key positions.

Highland comes into tonight’s action with an overall record of 0-1, they opened the season Friday night hosting the Washington Demons in a 5-1 loss. Highland fell behind early, trailing 3-0 at the half and got their lone goal from senior Caleb Brase.

Action begins tonight at 5PM at Highland High School.
