A six-member cast will perform a “Monty Python-type” play in Washington this weekend. The Bald Soprano is Directed by John Shang. He describes the plot of his directorial debut in Washington, “The whole structure of this play is that there is no structure. The story is that there’s no story. That’s kind of why I chose it, because when I first read this play I realized as I was reading it that there was no conceivable way to predict what was going to happen next until I read to the end. And that’s what compelled me to listen even more.” Shang adds it’s a play that isn’t done often, but it is one that students who study theater will have to read for class.

Area high schools are also getting students involved, as the Washington, Mid-Prairie and Keota speech teams will also perform on the stage – a different team each performance this weekend. The show opens tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Community Center. Click here for ticket information.
