The Washington 7th and 8th grade boys’ track teams found plenty of success at Fort Madison on Monday night.

The 7th grade squad took home the team title in the six-team meet with a total of 128 points. Scoring was plentiful for the Demons on a night that included four event championships. Individual winners included Kole Williams in the discus with a throw of 78’10’’, Ethan Zieglowsky in the high jump with a leap of 4’8’’, Jacob Miller with a 400m-dash time of 1:01, and Evan Miller in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.35 seconds. Other notable finishes were Nolan Watson placing second in the shot put with a heave of 28 feet and Kasen Bailey placing second in the high jump with a leap of 4’6’’. The victorious Demons managed points in all 19 events and 19 members contributed to the scoring.

The 8th grade team placed second in the meet with a total of 100 points. Mt. Pleasant took home the crown with 172 points. It was the Spencer Sotelo show for the Demons as he contributed to four of the team’s five event titles. He won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.27 seconds, the 200m hurdles in 27.79 seconds, and the long jump with a leap of 16’6’’. Additionally, he was the anchor leg of the winning 4×100 team along with Brian Martin, Wilx Witthoft, and Quinn Alexander. The final event title for the Demons was the 4×200 team of Witthoft, Alexander, Reece Mayer, and Zach Stout with a time of 1:49.56. The Demons had a trio of second place finishes in the field events including Stout in the high jump, Kael Adam in the shot put, and Witthoft in the discus.
