A helicopter ambulance assisted at a three-car wreck in Henry County Thursday. According to Iowa State Patrol, the wreck happened at 12:50 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 34 and 260th Street, west of New London. A Ford F-150 truck driven by 74-year-old Ronald Platt of New London was turning north onto 260th from the eastbound lanes of Highway 34 and failed to see a westbound semi-trailer. The semi was driven by 31-year-old Joshua Krieger of Waterloo. The semi struck the pick-up truck on the passenger side. A third vehicle driven by 41-year-old Melissa Jacobs of New London was waiting to turn westbound onto the highway and was also hit by the semi. All three vehicles came to rest in the north ditch.

Platt was taken by Life Flight to the University of Iowa Hospital. Krieger was transported by ambulance to the Henry County Health Center. Jacbos was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital. All of the drivers were wearing seat belts.
