The Lone Tree girls’ track team participated in the annual Chad Gates Invitational Thursday night in West Branch.

Lone Tree was third-place overall in the six-team meet with a combined score of 79 points. West Branch won the meet with a score of 144 points. The Lady Lions’ had their fair share of first place winners including Sydney Alt, who took home the 800m title with a time of 2:52.90. Kaycee Kane had a discus winning throw of 86’3’’ and the 4x800m team won with a time of 11:39.76. This team consisted of Natalie Patterson, Macie Bopp, Sydney Alt, and Karli Burr. Patterson beat out teammate Bopp in the 1500m run by .68 of a second to take second place and Bopp claiming third. Other notable finishes for the Lions’ included the second place 400m shuttle hurdle relay team consisting of Emily Feldman, Holley Johnson, Zoie Simonsen, and Marrisa Swails. Feldman was third in the 100m hurdles, Johnson third in the 400m dash and Elena Sieverding grabbed fourth in that same event.

The Lions will next be in action Tuesday at Mid-Prairie starting at 5 p.m.
