The Mid-Prairie FFA chapter traveled to Ames for the Iowa FFA Leadership Conference earlier this week. Twenty one members of the chapter attended the conference and received bronze, silver, and gold ratings in various Career Development Events (CDEs). Katie Frantz, Averi Kron, Creigh Rourke, and Wyatt Stumpf received their Iowa FFA Degrees. That is the highest degree the state can award.

Members of the Mid-Prairie chapter participated in various parts of the conference. Greta Schmidt and Bella Sexton served as the chapter’s delegates, voting for the new state officer team. Schmidt also served as the chairperson of the state Program of Activities committee. Rebecca Frantz was balloted as a State Officer candidate for the Southeast District VP. Kitty Conway served as a member of the FFA Chorus, and Garrett Sexton assisted with the massing of the FFA flags.

The Mid-Prairie chapter was recognized as the 18th place, gold-rated superior chapter in the National Chapter Program. This rating was based on the chapter’s involvement in the areas of student, chapter, and community activities. The chapter will next compete at the national level in the National Chapter Program judging. The chapter was also recognized with the WHO Public Relations Award and the chapter sponsored the Diversified Horticulture Proficiency award.
