The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team is back to action after more than a week off today when they host the Golden Hawk Invitational at the Kalona Golf Course.
Last time out Mid-Prairie finished second at a triangular meet in Washington, shooting 228. Paige Slabaugh leads the Golden Hawks this year with a 52 stroke average per nine holes, Lindsey Palmer is second at 53, Olivia Nisly third at 54 and Emma Mattes fourth at 61. Mid-Prairie’s nine hole average score as a team is 220.
Joining the Golden Hawks on the course today will be Fairfield, Iowa City Regina, Tipton, West Branch, West Liberty, Williamsburg and Wilton. The Tipton Tigers enter play with the fourth best scoring average in the state in class 2A at 196 strokes per nine holes. The Tigers are led by Kailee Meyer who is seventh in the state in 2A with a 47 average per nine holes. Wilton is 10th as a team in 2A at 211.
The tournament is set for 18 holes. It begins at 12:30 this afternoon and continues all day at the Kalona Golf Course.
