The Mid-Prairie School Board meets in regular session Monday night in the High School Multipurpose Room.

On the agenda for tonight are two student learning items. The first is board commentary on the vision for the new culinary lab addition and Family and Consumer Science program. The second is the elementary learning vision and equalization of class sizes. The second item is the culmination of a process that began more than 18 months ago with an elementary study committee that deemed class size as one of the top three or four factors that could inhibit the district from reaching its vision for elementary learning. Following the committee’s report, the school board has had this item on it’s agenda for discussion during six different meetings, including a March 20th public forum. At the March 27th meeting, the board received a recommendation from a team of administrators. That recommendation called for the creation of two kindergarten through fourth grade attendance centers with fifth grade moving to the Middle School and turning the Washington Township location into the Home School Assistance Program and Preschool Center for the district. A decision on the topic is expected to be made by the board at Monday’s meeting. The Mid-Prairie School board meeting is tonight at 7PM.
