Mid Prairie School Board Meeting Preview

Highland 4-H Club Encourages Bluebird Population by Building Houses

Many of the Highlander 4-H Club parents assisted with the club’s bluebird house building project by donating supplies and tools and also being extra hands during the building process. Jason Thomann assisted his daughter Madison while she worked to build her birdhouse. 4-H is a place where parents can connect and reconnect with their children while working, learning, serving and playing together.

Bluebirds used to be a key identifier of spring, but with the industrialization of Iowa much of their homes have been decimated, causing a decrease in the population.

William Loren Swartzendruber

Celebration Of Life services for 89-year-old William Loren Swartzendruber will be held Tuesday, April 25th at 10:30 a.m. at Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church in rural Wellman. Visitation will be held Monday, April 24th at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will greet friends from 3-5pm and 6-8pm. Memorials are for Iowa Mennonite School and Upper Deer Creek Church.  The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is caring for William and his family.
