Area 4-H and FFA members are invited to attend a poultry project workshop in Washington. The event will cover a range of topics including basic feed and nutrition, health and care, how to care for chicks, and veterinary feed directive.

After a hiatus in 2015, poultry was welcomed back at county fairs in Iowa last summer. Vice President of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Cathann Kress visited the Washington County Fair said having the ban was a learning experience for students in regards to biohazards and biosecurity.

At the workshop, poultry superintendents will answer any questions and discuss any changes for the 2017 county fair. Attendees wil also build their own egg candler to take home at no cost. The workshop will be held April 8th from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
