Riverside City Council held their regular meeting monday night.Topics discussed on the agenda included the Washburn and 2nd Streets Improvements Project, drainage issues with Hall Park, and discussions on making the senior dining program cost effective. Mayor Allen Schneider says the number of senior attendants has decreased, and the idea of partnering with the city of Wellman was discussed.

The council discussed installing solar panels at the water and wastewater facilities. Schneider says about the plans, “We had a discussion last night about adding solar at those two facilities because they are a very large part of our overall electrical use throughout our city building, so we’re working with three different solar providers right now to get some proposals that we can evaluate and then select a partner to work with.”

Schneider talks about discussions for a dog park, “This is something that came up a few meetings ago. We’re just trying to provide a space in town, maybe near one of our park areas to allow people with dogs to come and exercise the dogs without having them roam free around the park. We’re just in the planning stages with that and I think we’ll be having more discussions about that in the next month or two.”

Social media involvement was discussed at the meeting, as Schneider said he wants to improve the city’s facebook and twitter presence.
