The Sigourney and Keota boys’ track teams competed at the Prairie City Monroe Classic on Thursday night.

There were plenty of event championships to go around for the Savages who placed third overall in the seven-team meet with 112 points. Lynnville-Sully took home the meet title with 177 points. The chilly conditions did not stop personal best times from being on full display for Sigourney starting with the 100m champion Avery Moore with a time of 10.80 seconds. Going neck and neck with Moore in the event was teammate Bryce Goldman, whose personal best time of 10.93 seconds was good enough for second place. Thomas Stout ran away with the 1600m grabbing the event title with a time of 5:03.14, 15 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Rounding out the top finishes for the Savages was the 4×100 team of Carson Crawford, Bryce Goldman, Will Magill, and Kyle Weber with a time of 45.46 seconds.

Keota experienced their fair share of event champions as well that led the way to a fifth place team finish with 80 points. Jacob Wickencamp paced the Eagles by taking home two individual titles. He got things started by winning the long jump with a leap of 19’ ¼’’ and later won the 200m dash with a time of 23.33 seconds. With Wickencamp covering the sprints and field events, teammate Turner Klein took care of the long distance by winning the 3200m with a time of 11:18.40. To complete the well-rounded night for the Eagles, the 4×200 team of Luke Greiner, Logan Sieren, J.D. Stout, and Jacob Wickencamp took home the title with a time of 1:36.18.
