The Sigourney girls track team traveled to Newton on Thursday for the Cardinal Invitational.

The Savages managed a sixth place finish in the 14-team meet with a total of 39 points. Pella won the Invitational with a combined 145 points. Sigourney’s Barthelman sisters, Autum and Summer, continue to impress as they headlined the night for the Savages. Summer got things going by winning the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.75 and taking the title in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet. Autum posted a first place finish herself in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.65 seconds and was fifth in the 100m dash, clocking in at 13.03 seconds. The Barthelman sisters capped off the night by being a part of the third place shuttle hurdle relay team along with Sloane Magill and Leah Carter with a time of 1:10.41. Other notable finishes include the distance medley team of Magill, Heidi Clarahan, Makenna Hammes, and Paige Thompson taking seventh.

Sigourney will next be on the track Monday traveling to Prairie City-Monroe High School.
