On another, cold, damp and dreary spring evening around southeast Iowa the Washington Demon, Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk and Iowa Mennonite School girls track teams traveled to Williamsburg Tuesday night for the Raider Invitational.

Mid-Prairie finished with the best team score of the three area schools, finishing in sixth place with 75 points. Mount Vernon won the meet with 137 points. The Golden Hawks had three event championships on the night. Anna Hostetler was a two-time winner, taking the 800m in a time of 2:19.50 and the 3000 in 10:20.35. The Golden Hawk 4×800 team of Abby Tornow, Greta Schmidt and Anna and Marie Hostetler also took the title with their time of 10:08.39. Other top finishes for Mid-Prairie included Abby Tornow third in the 400, Kessa Jones third in the 400 hurdles, Abbagail Evans fifth in the 200, and the Mid-Prairie distance medley team of Abby Tornow, Abbagail Evans, Shelby Zahradnek and Kate Cavanagh were fifth.

The Washington Demons finished seventh out of nine teams with their overall score of 70 points. Washington had one champion on the night with Hannah Anderson taking the 100m dash with a time of 12.94 seconds. Other top finishes for the Demons included Ashley Telleen runner-up in the 400m hurdles, the 4×200 relay team of Leah Marek, Telleen, Jenah Greiner, and Hannah Anderson finishing as runners-up, the 800 sprint medley team of Makenzi Marek, Greiner, Telleen and Anderson finishing as runners-up, Claire Horak fourth in the 3000, and the Washington shuttle hurdle relay team of Michaela Hoffman, Halle Leyden, Abby Voss and Olivia Pacha were fourth.

Iowa Mennonite finished ninth out of nine teams with their overall score of 10 points. Scoring events for IMS on the night included Calli Shaw fourth in the 400m dash and Emma Beachy sixth in the discus.

The Washington Demons will next be in action Thursday when they host the Demon Relays at Case Field, Mid-Prairie travels to Clear Creek-Amana Friday and Iowa Mennonite will next be in action Monday when they travel to Lone Tree.
