The Washington Park Commission has been dissolved and a Park and Recreation Board is being implemented. At the recent Washington City Council meeting the three-member elected administrative agency was officially dissolved and the first reading of the five-member appointed park and recreation board was approved unanimously. The council also approved advertisement for members to the new board. City Administrator Brent Hinson stated the switch to the appointed board will go into effect July 1st and the Mayor has decided to offer appointments to the current board members. The new board will have four-year terms.
